The Sydney Opera House is one of the finest and technically perfect among all the Iconic Architectures in the world's history.A Danish architect Jrn Utzon is responsible for this lunatic beauty.It is basically an art center of multi-venue performance on Bennelong point of Sydney, Australia.On the 28th of June 2007, Sydney Opera House became the UNESCO World Heritage Site.It is the latest designated architecture as The World Heritage Site.It is a symbol of brilliance yet on the 21st century.Some of the earliest landmarks such as Stonehenge and Giza Necropolis have surrendered of their beauty in front of 20th century's distinctive building The Great Opera House.The Sydney Opera House is the newest expressionist construction with a succession of concrete shells that contain equal radius section of hemisphere form materializing the structure of the roof set on the commemorative podium.The widest point of the building has covered 4.5 acres of land which is 605 feet long and 388 feet wide.A huge amount concrete piers like 588 sunk about 25 meters under the sea level to support the entire building.1,056,006 glossy Swedish-made tiles of white and cream color were used to cover the roof of the House and it looks uniform white anybody look from a good distance.In the late 1940s the preparation of building the Sydney Opera House started at the time the Director of the renowned company (NSW State Conservatorium of Music) lobbied for a proper venue for huge theatrical productions.The existing Sydney Town Hall was not large enough for that production.In 1954, Goossens prevailed getting the prior support (of NSW Premier Joseph Cahill) who actually appeals for designs for the great Opera House.As the location of Opera House, Bennelong Point was insisted by Goossens.But Wynyard Railway Station was the demand of Cahill as the site of Opera House.On 13th September 1955, Cahill launched a design competition and representing architecture, 233 entries was received from different countries.The main issue was declared for making a large hall having 3000 seats and another small hall that can be facilitate up to 1200 people.In 1957, after all research work the winner was announced and it was none other than Jrn Utzon the Danish architect.To supervise the project this Danish architect came to visit Sydney in the early 1957.Finally he moved his office to Sydney in 1963 for this Opera House making purpose.The occupying organization Fort Macquarie Team Depot was destroyed in 1958 and the in March 1959 the opening construction of Opera House started.The total Project was divided and into there phases.In between 1963 to 1967 the building upper podium as first phase of project was built.Phase II consisted the construction of outer shells in between 1963-1967.The final phase was to build the 1967-1973interior design in between 1967-1973.After a long awaiting, in 1973 the formal completion for Opera House announced.The director of charge of this project supplied the following estimate in 1973. For 1st phase the cost was around $5.5 million.Phase II, around $12.5 million.Phase III, around $82 million.Earlier, the cost was estimated as $7 million but finally the project finished at around 10 year later with $102 million which was 14 times the estimated budget at 1957.People dreams came true on the 20th October 1973, as Queen of Australia and Elizabeth II formally opened the Opera House with lot of crowd with audience.Surprisingly Jrn Utzon, the main architect wasn't invited and nor his name was announced on the ceremony.The opening ceremony was telecasted on TV with lot of fireworks.The Sydney Opera House Trust along with REM Theater commissioned Constantine Koukias to compose an Icon in 1993 as the 20th anniversary of The Sydney Opera House.The Sydney Opera House Trust in late 1990s started to communicate with Jrn Utzon to result reconciliation and for securing his future involvement chances to the building.The trust appointed him as a design consultant in 1999.The Utzon was renamed as "The Utzon Room" for showing honor to him in 2004.A major reconstruction was proposed by Utzon in the April 2007.Finally Mr.Utzon died on the 29th November 2008.Utzon's son Jan and his daughter Lin attended a memorial service celebrating the creative genius.The Opera House was officially opened at 17th November 2009 for refurbished and Accessibility Improvements of Western Foyers.Planned by Utzon and his son Jan, in association with Richard Johnson of Johnson Pilton Walker, the development has changed to the Western Foyers into a fashionable and useful space providing clients with additional facilities including cloaking facilities, new ticketing, toilet etc.In the eastern group Opera theatre is there and in the western group correlate the location of The Concert Hall.It was decided to choose the scale of the shells so that it can reflect the height requirements to the high stage tower.There are many more spaces like The Studio, Playhouse and The Drama Theater all are situated below the Concert Hall.The Restaurant is in the right place to the one face of the memorial Step house.It is the Precast Concrete that made of the roof of the Opera House.It's not only about the tile, all the material used such as the glasses, curtain of the walls and the foyer spaces are decorated with a clad pink granite scoop in Tarana.The Australian plywood carried from Brush box and South Wales Wauchope was used for the interior decoration.With the seat capacity of 2678, The Concert Hall is the residence of the Sydney Symphony and big quantity concert presenter uses this.It holds The Sydney Opera House Grand Organ.The more than 10,000 pipes it is the biggest mechanical tracker act organ in the world.With 1507 seats the proscenium theater of Opera theater is the Sydney home of The Australian Ballet and Opera Australia.With 544 seat capacity The Drama Theater is mainly utilized be Sydney Theater Company and sometimes by other theatrical presenters.The seat capacity of Playhouse which is an end stage theater is 398.The Studio with a lot of free space can accommodate up to 4000 people depending on the orientation.For a good range of public events and chief outside performances The Forecourt is best with lot of wide space availability.There is one more room available for special purposes and sit up to 210 people is known as The Utzon Room.Some other areas like northern and western parts are utilized for accomplishment and on special occasions.The Sydney Opera house fulfills all the demands of social functions, ceremonies and big conferences.It houses cafes, bars and restaurants, recording studio, and retail outlets.People come to visit this exiting place start from very beginning of the morning.It is actually starts from 9am and close at 5pm.Sydney Opera House Trust is the prior authority of Sydney Opera House and run by the New South Wales Ministry of Arts.Being the world busiest performing art center The Sydney Opera house facilitates about 1,500 performances every year which is viewed by almost 1.2 million people.It promotes and supports numerous theater and arts companies including neighborhood companies Sydney Symphony, Opera Australia, Sydney Theater Company and The Australian Ballet.Over 800 of its own performances are houses by itself Sydney Opera House annually which present divertive art and cultural activities for educational to the experimental purposes.Interestingly, it is the most visited site in Australia and each year it is visited by more than of seven million people.And this is why people around the world say the Sydney Opera House as an Icon Architecture.
